Asbestos Disposal

Asbestos is a group of minerals that were once used in many building materials because they are strong and resist heat. When asbestos materials break or are disturbed, they can release tiny fibers into the air. Breathing in these fibers can be dangerous to your health.

Because of this, asbestos must be handled and thrown away very carefully as special waste, following all safety rules.

There are two types of asbestos:

Friable asbestos – This type can easily crumble and become airborne. It is the most dangerous.
Non‑friable asbestos – This type is solid and harder to break, but if it is damaged, it can become friable.

For commercial buildings, each type of asbestos waste must be profiled separately before it goes to the landfill. Profiling shows exactly what the material is and provides the correct paperwork. This helps the landfill know what they are receiving and ensures everything is disposed of safely and legally.

I, the undersigned Authorized Representative, on behalf of the Generator identified above, hereby provide approval for Mazza Recycling Services and Affiliates to be duly authorized to profile and endorse the above waste stream. I certify that the waste stream we are disposing of at the WM Cumberland County Landfill, WM Western Berks Landfill, Republic Conestoga, Atlantic County Utilities Authority, Cumberland County Improvement Authority, WM Grand Central Sanitary Landfill, WM Fairless Landfill and/or any other disposal facility as required by applicable laws and regulations is not a characteristic hazardous waste as defined in 40 CFR, Sections 261.20 to 261.24, and/or is not a listed hazardous waste as defined in 40 CFR, Sections 261.30 to 261.34. Furthermore, based on the generator's knowledge of the company's process, TCLP and Total Characteristics not tested for are known not to be present in concentrations equal to or greater than the value specified in the TC Rule 40 CFR Part 261.24. I understand that this form does not constitute acceptance of waste, and that acceptance is subject to facility approval, receipt of complete supporting documentation, and compliance with applicable laws and facility acceptance criteria.
